My TeachersPayTeachers store consists primarily of resources in PDF format. A number of customers have inquired about editing the files. The majority of these files are not intended to be edited by customers and I would not encourage it. Rather, if you find an error in a file, let me know through the TPT question and answer engine or email me so that I can repair it. If you’d like to see a feature added to a product, I’d be interested in hearing about that as well. I’ve done it dozens of times. It’s usually very little trouble and it serves to make my products better.
Some items, however, are perfectly appropriate to edit yourself. My collection of A.R. party invitations, for example, might need dates or details added to the file. I have various classroom forms that might better serve with a bit of customization. In these circumstances, I regularly recommend PDFbuddy.
PDFbuddy is a PDF editor that is entirely online. One should understand that editing a PDF is different that editing a word processor document, but PDFbuddy is very easy to learn. At the time of this writing three files per month can be edited with PDFBuddy at no charge. This seems like a good solution for the circumstances I have described.
PDFbuddy is so easy, in fact, that I would caution buyers not to go too crazy. Files on TPT are under copyright law and altering the item is not always appropriate. Discriminate when choosing to whether to customize. If in doubt, just ask the creator.
